Anyone running a Z20 with a 80 lb thrust motor? If so, how does it perform? Debating between the 112 and the 80.

Bigger is always better.
You will have the power if you need it with a 112.
It will work, in fact it will do good. Just get the biggest RC batteries you can.

Had a Minn-Kota 70 on my 884 did good on calm and breezy days, but not so good windy and current.
Stepped up to a Minn-Kota 112 wow what a difference.
A friend has an 80 on an older heavy 20' Charger and it does great even on the Colorado River.
It will do fine.... Always have had the 80 lber on a 20ft boat and it has never failed me. Sure a 112 is better, but requires 3 batteries and different charger, and most of the time you will never use it above 50-75% power. JMHO....

Unless you fish a lot of heavy river current often, then 80lb is good but would recommend group 29 or 31 batteries with a good RC rating as Bryan indicated. I've used both the Fortrex and now Ultrex 80lb motors with no problem with power.

Not for nothing, the 112 was night and day on my Z19 when I upgraded from 80lb. I fish around a ton of current and on Champlain so the extra power is needed. I find 80#'s on a twenty footer actually a bit amusing but maybe it works for some folks on smaller bodies of water.
#80 Ultrex on my 20’er. Have zero issues fishing in the windiest place on earth... Kansas! Gp 31 agm batteries haven’t run them dead yet even spot locked on points all day.

I had a 82# on my Z8, had come from 112 on my previous 929, and didn't miss the extra thrust. It moved the boat fine and I fished offshore TN river a lot. Get good RC batteries and it will be fine.
