Exclamation Missing Boater on Barkley - keep an eye out for him

39 year old Jim Vanlue disappeared on Lake Barkley.

He was in an aluminum jon boat with a blue stripe down the side.

I hope they find him alive.

They have found the boat, but the guy wasn't around. Said they are switching to a land-based search now rather than water.

They said he typically fishes between Mershon’s Bridge and the Lake Barkley Bridge.

With his boat found near Energy Lake, maybe he broke down and has been walking the roads in LBL trying to hitch a ride.

It sounds like he fell out of the boat and then couldn't get back in it, so he swam to shore. He was found walking down The Trace in LBL.

I guess it's a good reminder to make sure you have the means to get back into your boat if you happen to fall out while by yourself.

I think most of us overestimate our ability to do that. I used to ski on the Ohio with my cousins. They had a jon boat with an old 60HP Johnson. We’d just climb over the side when we wanted in. Couldn’t do that anymore, especially after swimming to catch up to a boat being blown by the wind and waves.
