    2012 Z7 with 150 opti setup???

I just bought a like new Z7 with a 150 optimax and Tempest 23 pitch. It run 54mph ant 5200 rpm it doesn't seem to have a lot of bow lift compared to other boats I have had. Do they run a little fatter than most or is there something I need to do setup??

In my opinion the Z-7 is underpowered with the 150 in terms of top speed, it is best with the 175 or 200 (forget which years allowed the 200). You are not far off from what I've seen with the 150, play around with trim, prop to pad to find the sweet spot for it. With the current water temps and air temps/humidity and without re-working my current prop or going to a 22p I am maxed at 56.2 and 5200 rpm.

I have the same boat. 58-59 mph. 5400-5500 rpm. I put a 8” jack plate on and still configuring it. But I hope to see 60-61. There are others seeing 60 consistently. I do agree weather has something to do with performance.

What prop, and do you have the plugs out? Will that help my rpm on top end at all by removing plugs?

I have a 13 Z7 with 1 12' talon and a 10" atlas my PTP is 3.5 .Only run 1/2 tank of fuel thats all you need
With a croxtonized 23p tempest and some tweaks on the Pro XS I can touch 59 mph trimmed out and plated up.

    I have a 2011 rated for a 200. Have 150 now and best I've gotten is 55.6 @ 5600 rpm. 23P Tempest prop. Only hit that 1 time, best now is 49-51 @ 5500 rpm...

+1!!!! That's what was wrong with mine. Look for gaps between your hull and bunk boards from where the seats are all the way to the transom. My hull was replaced at the factory and now it runs like a rocket. Not saying that's whats wrong with yours, just saying to check it out.

Any problem with your 10” jackplate. I got one from a guy that went with a new hydraulic and been debating putting it on

Does 6" jackplate seem to make a performance difference?

    I don't have a Z7 I have an NX-882.

But I can say the P2P and right prop can make a HUGE difference.

With a 23 temp+ prop I went from 56mph to a consistent 60+ (best is 63.5mph). By going from 3.5 to 2.75 on PTP. RPM went from 5400 to 5600. Maintained Water pressure at 15psi. And holeshot is much better very little bow rise and up on pad quick. Seemed like a different boat after adjusting the engine!!

It did it in baby steps, half to 1inch adjustments at a time. I was surprised what a difference just an inch makes.

Every prop (even of the same make and pitch) and boat may have a different sweet spot. It is a great feeling when you find it.

I am not a speed demon by any means. But is nice to run 50@ 4800 instead of 44@ 4800 for example. Save a little gas money in your wallet.

I ran a 2012 Z7 150 ProXS. Had dual power poles and no jack plate. Carrying all my equipment I could run at 61-63 GPS. Chine started at 64. It's been a few years since I sold the boat! Miss it almost everyday. I would have to find them but I have close up pictures of the prop and the boat from when I sold it if needed!
