I had a '97 TE that had a 225 EFI on it, and it moved along just fine. I never got 80 mph out of it, but I never tried, either.
Bigger, heavier boat like that will still have a relatively slow hole shot, but that's easy to make up for in the next minute.
    And the next. m

Depends what you're looking for. I've got a 94 with a 200 promax. Before I got stupid and traded away the perfect prop, it was a low to mid 70s boat with. Currently run a 24 trophy plus and have seen 71 with just me. Hole shot is awesome, even better with my Allison foil. Same boat with a 225 promax is an 80 mph boat.

I had a friend who had a 96 209 with a opti. It worked fine for him but he has not a wot guy. Good hole shot even with no tabs. I know he was running a Trophy but not sure of the size. I had a 94 209 with a 98 efi. Good hole shot with no tabs with a 25 and 26 Trophy.
