I have a buddy getting a brand new 200 Pro XS on his 294. He is asking me about prop selections. I feel somewhere in the 25-26 range depending on the brand.
Will the new 4-stroke V8 need anything different than than what we already know works? Will it allow for lower prop slip for some reason? It appears to have the same gear ratio of 1.75.
I am not sure of his load, but i don't think it will be anything crazy.

i think the new 200 merc 4 strokes are V6...not V8
my bad...u r right the 200's are V8's...WOW!
I'll bet he can spin a 27 Tempest with that motor once it's broke in good. Lot's of guys out there with 200s on 294s and spinning 27s

I think it would be rare to spin a 27 on a Mercury with 1.75 year ratio. At least not many using Fury or Tempest props.
I run a 26 Fury on mine. It’s all she wants. Truly would run better with 25 in the summer.

I run a 27 Tempest Plus on my 294 Yamaha 200HPDI...no problems hitting 74mph!

Check the max rpms for the new motor. I know the 250s are well over 6000. That will dictate how to prop it. I run a 26 fury 4 on my 200 pro xs/ 294 but that is a completely different animal.
Yes. It is over 6,000, but will it turn it? I guess that is what i am asking. I don't think the 200 will turn a 27 at 6200 rpm.... If so...it be running 80+... that aint happening.

If you don't think it will turn a 27 then get the 26 Tempest and borrow other known GOOD props to test.

It certainly won’t turn it over 6000. Honestly a 24-25 fury would be my first choice.

After a couple exhaust tuners melted on his HPDI he yanked the Hammer off and put the Merc on.
The SHO’s sure run good.
