    97 blazer 190, propping

Just completely rebuilt the boat, stringers, transom, floor the whole 9 yards.
Previous owner said he couldn’t run over 62 mph with boat.
the old motor I also found a bad cylinder, now has a much stronger 99’ 200 merc.
im running on a borrowed prop, a 23 Solas scorpion, A T1 copy with a whole lot stronger cup profile.
when I first purchased the boat, 62 is all I could muster with the 23 scorpion, chine walk was non existent.
i ran the boat Saturday, granite the lake was rough, but this boat now chine walks brutally. I did have the motor way to deep, like 3.5” under pad. This prop feels like I can lift the entire boat out of the water as I trim. I found the boat to run the best at a nuetral trim. I have zero gps data atm the moment since rebuild. Only had my phone gps. It said 58 mph. But I don’t think it had caught up yet, I felt like we were running every bit of 65-68. My bass tracker runs 55. I’m looking for low 70s, with minimal chine walk. 25 tempest? Or 25 trophy plus? I feel safe turning this motor to 6000.

That 23 is way to small for that boat/motor.. I would try to borrow a 24 25 tempest or similar and go from there . I don’t know how much weight was added when you redid everything vs factory work so Gonna have to play with it and probaly bring that motor up some more also..

boat should have lost a couple hundred lbs removing all the wet foam and wood. Also everything was put back using biaxial cloth vs chopper con construction. The 23 turns more like a 25. It is actually turns about the same as a 25 t1.

Ive gotta 2002 with a 200 Mercury and im turning a 26p Trophy at 5700. The 25p Tempest i had put me over 6k. If you get low 70's with a 25p prop I'd be surprised.

The 200 Merc were the worst engine ever to prop on a 190 due to the rev limiter being 5850.

Then you need to prop it to turn around 6000 in the summer loaded to fish IMO. That should put you running in the low 70s.
