    Fastest Cat with a 200 or 250?

I had a friend ask me what the fastest cat hull was i was thinking the eyra with a 250. I would like to limit it from 200-250hp. When i rode with A-mart he told me he cant beat the smaller cats i wonder what he classified as smaller?

Eyra is the fastest 20 footer with a 250. A 200 would be the Pantera II.

I don't know that there's any boat rated for 200 max from any company that's faster than a P2 with a 200. I've had mine to 73 and there hasn't been anything done to the motor at all (stock Opti). That was with a 26Fury. I think there are guys out there doing better than that with a P2 also.

Only smaller boats faster than the PII's is the last generation Panthera Classics.. Can't wait for numbers on the PII with the new V8 4S 200..

    That's a very big wheel for a 200

I understand that the new Classic might be faster than the PII.

ehhh, I don't know about that. It's a heavier and longer boat. I asked a dealer I trust about what he thought about trading my '07 P2 in for a new Classic and he said he thought I'd be disappointed, not that it was necessarily a bad boat but that it wasn't gonna run or handle like a P2.

Dealer I spoke with who had a Classic demo at his dealership said that it ran about 72. Another said the same thing. Is that pretty similar to a PII?

Yes. A PII will consistently run in lower 70’s. Buddy of mine’s best was 76 in his.

I believe the Eyra may be the fastest Cat with a 250, but by a very slim margin compared to the Puma and Cougar.
What differs between the above mentioned 250 models is handling and acceleration.
The Earlier 2000+ series Pantera Classic series I believe were slightly faster than the PII when set up properly.
The new Classic is still within a few mph of the PII.
As far as A-Marts boat, Loaded heavy, he will struggle to catch a PII, except on a long run. My guess is he was referring to the Eyra.

My 2016 Puma/250 SHO is capable of 80, I just can't do it.
I had a 2002 Jag (older 20 foot hull) that had a Mercury Racing Optimax 250 XS. It would run low 80's and I could drive it to that level (I was younger then).

Yeah I’m guessing he was referring to the Puma, Cougar, and Eyras. I believe he runs a 921 which I think is around 1’ longer than those boats

Had my new PII up to 72mph just after break-in this past March here in Florida. In the hot/humid summer months I get 71.6. That's with 2 people and a Talon. I can't wait for December to roll around when we get a hint of cool and dry weather. I should see 73mph. I'm running a 25p Fury on a 200 ProXS 2-stroke.

Classics and P2's from like 2004 and newer, when they put the gas tank under the seat and added rear storage (excluding the new version of the Classic) are the same hulls so it'd make sense that it might edge out a P2 since it'd be a little lighter. Kind of like the Sabre and the Sabre FTD. The newer Classic is a different hull all together.

I want to say that the Classics and the P2's from that time are pretty much just a Sabre hull that's been stretched a foot (or the Sabre is a Pantera shrunk a foot). I had an '04 Sabre and I swear other than the extra foot and a higher HP rating they handle almost exactly the same from holeshot up to the mid 50's. My Sabre topped out at 66 with a 150 EFI but got squirrely at about 62 and the P2 topped out (for me) at 73 and gets squirrely at like 68.

My boat came with a 26 Fury which I think was probably an inch too much because I still had some RPM's left. While my boat is fast, I typically am either fishing on the Mississippi river or on bigger water like Sturgeon bay. For what I do my regular prop is a 25" hi5. It'll still hit 65-66 but with full livewells, gas tank, power poles etc it gets up on plane immediately, like the best holeshot of any boat I've ever been in. Plus it handles big water like it has 4WD.
