A small part of the reason is the general way the Optimax runs in hot weather...Have you thought about going to a 4-blade prop?

Before buying a new prop pull a plug or two out of your 23p to help build the rpms faster.

Yes and yes. Once you pull some or all you should be able to tell a difference. If you pull to many it will try to blow out when taking off or when the nose starts to drop

what's your prop to pad? My holeshot is better when the motor is higher if you have added weight in the rear your prop may be too deep...

I have 1 PP. I am running no plugs in my 23p tempest and whole shot is pretty good at 3" p2p. It's the top speed for me that's the problem ;)

What kind of topend speed do you get? I have a 2012 Z7 I just bought with a opti 150 no jackplate and 23 tempest. I don't get much bow lift it doesn't seem. 54 mph gps 5200rpm

I was told by my dealer that the boat wouldn't plane if I pulled all the plugs out of the Tempest, didn't think that was truly the case.

My apologies, I don't have the plugs pulled, I looked again and I have the 3 holes with the "large" hole plugs in them. Not the solid plugs.

There is a thread stickied in the "props" forum with the different plugs.

I run no plugs in my Fury or Trophy though I have the 150 four stroke which makes less torque and something I believe people forget to consider, are you speaking from experience and if so what outboard?

What's seems to be the best setup for top end on the z7 with a 150 opti?

I had a 192 super pro w/ a 200 pro xs on it. I played around with it cause I had a 26 tempest on it.. And I don't know much about four strokes.
