    Duracell 31 AGM's from Sam's Club for $180.

    If you are not a member you can get a 1 day membership for $5. I would call ahead to make sure they have the batteries as not all Sam's clubs, at least near me, stock them.

    I've been pleased with the Deka's my boat dealer sells. They were not outrageously expensive.

    For what it's worth, Interstates are made by Johnson Controlls along with Wal Mart and Auto Zone batteries.

    Check out Napa commercial batteries. I've used AutoZone and Interstate with no problems.

    This is the battery I just bought to replace my cranking battery, since I have a 225 Optimax. The battery exceeding the specs I needed and having a 4 year full replacement warranty was what sold me on it. After the 10% online discount and $20 MIR, I believe it was about $350 with tax. I also replaced the trolling motor batteries, but went with the Deka 27's that my Mercury mechanic was selling for about $150 each. I just did this 2 weeks ago, so all new for me.....

    Everstart = Interstate = Johnson Controls

    Napa = Duracell = SuperStart (O'Reilly) = Deka = East Penn

    This list is not all inclusive.

    Peel back the label to expose the caps for watering. When used in a typical commercial situation, the batteries are discarded on a regular basis, so watering is not necessary. In a bass boat, you want longevity, so monitoring the levels is important.

    do not skimp on a good cranking batt !!!!!!.... the Northstar AGM is the best out there !, as far as trolling batts ?, I would stick with the good ol’ Wally World Maxx! you get 4 years out of a $85 batt ! it beats 6 years out of a $300 batt

    I buy wm maxx29, I get about 4 years out of em. I’d probably do an auto parts store brand like Napa in a pinch, something that will be an easy exchange if need be.

    I’ve noticed that a lot of people say to use the 31 Duracell AGM from Sams for the cranking battery but not for the TM, is there a reason for this? Online they offer a deep cycle/cranking agm...are flooded batteries better for tm purposes?

    about as good, for a bit less weight and less cost.
    People going AGM crank because Engine MFG's are specifically requiring it.

    I bought my boat June 1st, it has the Walmart Max 29’s in it dated 3/15, they’re doing great once I put a Noco Genius 10amp/bank unit on it. They hold a charge at 14.1 which is impressive to me.

    I hear people say their Walmart doesn’t carry them but don’t rely on the online numbers, visit the stores. There are batteries on the shelves that the computers miss, even on the wrong racks from what I’ve seen. With as many Walmart’s as there are I bet you can find them.

    Just try try to get the most current date possible.

    I’ve always used interstates and had great luck. Best 27 group available for sure. My new boat came with dekas, 27 group dual purpose so I’ll see how they last. The specs look good but I’ll see after a season how they hold up
