    17 ft Aluminum Canoe

Picked this canoe up west of Dallas TX about 3 weeks ago. Last time it was registered was 1977. Pretty good shape and I couldn't beat the price($240.00 included 2 paddles and 2 life jackets). I have it polished up.... but there is no way to tell what brand it is. Looks like it had a nameplate on the front and the series number is on the right hand side in the rear. Any ideas? I've looked and looked.

I think its an Osagian from up in Missouri. I picked one up about 4 years ago outside of Waco and I gave less than $350. I contacted them but didn't have much luck with old info as the company changed owners and new owner didn't seem to want to help. If you put another picture up of the bow ring I maybe able to verify its exactly like mine? Nice find and reasonable.

I had a Grumman back in the 70’s that looked just like yours.

In Texas no but as soon as you put a trolling motor on it, its the same price as registering a boat that length every year!

Good find and it has cleaned up nicely! If it was registered in TX, I would try to contact them to see if they could provide any info via the reg numbers. Is the covering over the front appear to be original?

You did a nice job shining that Canoe. What are you trying to do > Blind the Fish. Seriously> They should be jumping in the canoe when you hit the shallow riffles.

You could make bacon and eggs on that thing after being in the August sun for an hour.

I'll look at my pic's at the office Monday to see if its the same. I think my Osagian's bow hook is just a little different than yours.

Order you a quart of shark hide and treat it before you get it wet and it will hold that shine for years. You can do the whole boat in less than an hour.

I'd say Grumman Eagle. I own one 17 feet long but mine is the kind they started mass producing with a much uglier bow, they would fit inside one another for shipping, then stores would put the bow covers on after separating them. I replaced all the thwarts and the gunnel with heavier duty aluminum after a thwart snapped and threw me overboard in March.
Mine has a title, I changed the length to 15 feet somehow sneakiny at the DNR and it can be powered by up to 7.5 HP without fee for registration. I need to sell it first $100.
