I've been doing some looking at Stratos boats and hear good things about the old ones and the Evolutions. However I'm not seeing much on the SS and if I do they say they were bad but no real reason why. So what is it that was bad about the SS Hull?

If my memory is correct the SS19,20 and 21 were released all in the same year. I "think" it was the SS 19 that had a few hulls recalled because they had a hook in them. It was only a few hulls and isolated to only one size but it kind of gave all three of them a black eye.
I have a 20ss. It is a great boat
Only issues I know of is where the top cap and hull connect that the sealant used was not enough and will leak. Buddy has one and his bilge constantly got water in it. Took to lake and used boro scope as he was in reverse gassed it and the camera showed water was entering that area. Simple fix, remove transom trim plate, jackplate, and rub rail and reseal.
Fast stable boat and fast. Like a lot of Stratos you have to drive through the chinewalk.
20ss had a recall for the hull which was bow hooking. mine was done and the new hull was a much better hull (not as fast but better all around -its a javelin hull now) my 200 ss has been great, still looks 95% new-- my ficht has been great also!! the recall was for the 19ss and 20ss, not the 21ss if I remember correctly

OMC/Stratos refunded my entire purchase price back in 2000 for my 2000 20SS. The 20's are the ones that had the problem. 21SS had no issues. I would say all the bad hulls were replaced and no longer around.
