Question Minn Mota Fortrex 112 Thrust

Just got a steal on one and installing. How many amps will this 36 VDC motor pull at 100 % ? Can I get away with the 10 gauge wire already in my boat?

    Thanks

No, you can't use 10ga wire. If the boat is the 21' in the signature, you're going to have apx 45' of wire. The 112 will pull around 50A when on high. I would go with 6ga wire since you're going to be pulling wire anyway.

I’m installing this on a dura craft 18’ long. Will wire size still be a problem?

Yes, 6ga wire is the ticket. You won't have issues with anything. If you keep the 10ga you will run into voltage issues at the troll motor. This will cause more amp draw, more heat and possible melting of wire insulation.

Will a 50 amp breaker be correct for this motor ?

It will require a 60 amp breaker
