Has anyone tried to make their own prop nut like the TH Marine kind. $50 seems a bit steep for a piece of aluminum with threads. I have the abilities to machine one. I think I might try this. Thoughts or experiences with trolling motor prop nut??

A nut is a nut ! Correct threads, depth, o-ring, should be a no brainer if you have a lathe and the know how to use it. I have the TH prop nut for my MinnKota Ultrex for the standard prop, but I'd like one to fit on a Kipawa prop the same way, TH won't even answer my e-mail about making one. If you can get one for your prop, let me know if you'd be interested in making me one for the Kipawa.

Certainly an interesting project.
I have NO IDEA if this will help in any way, but....Amazon has a new function that allows it to identify bolts etc. It just might help you further identify the specific bolts/threads etc. It utilizes Artificial Intelligence. It is free, and you need an Apple phone to use it. Here is a LINK that explains more.

I had some students make some in our Machining class and used it on my Maxxum. Worked fine and never came loose. I have the CAD drawings somewhere on my work computer I could send them to you.

Ive wondered what the benefits are of the TH prop nut. Can anyone explain to me what you've seen from running one. Thanks

I recently added the Bob's Balanced Trolling Motor Prop Nut to my 80# Ulterra. I did it for ease of prop removal and cleaning. The bonus was it actually quieted the motor a bit I assume because of what Jones mentioned in his post about squaring the blade. At higher speeds I has a slight whump-whump-whump prior to adding the large nut. Now the sound/vibration is gone.

Fisherman buy allot of gadgets. I've always run the nut MG provided with the TM and had no issues...
If you do build one, I'd machine a through-hole in it, and slot the end of the TM shaft (if not done already). You can put a screwdriver on the shaft and turn the nut if the shear pin ever gets bent or the prop gets stripped out.
