    Best 2D sonar

Who has the best 2D sonar on the market? I know it’s not hummingbird, that’s what I have now.

I've had good success with and read good reviews about Garmin's 2d sonar

I've had Lowrance HDS units and now going to Garmin.....in the time i had both, IMO is that i find Garmin is better than my Lowrance (especially in shallow water; less than 10').....i'll say that my Garmin unit has more sonar adjustments than Lowrance...
YOU are not entitled to what I have earned!!!!!

I have Humminbird and I've been in boats with both Garmin and Lowrance. As far as the 2D sonar I believe Garmin is better than the two I mentioned. But keep in mind the other factors such as transducers and settings.

No only these items but how/where they’re installed as well.

Humminbird helix. They are ok for water over 10’ deep. Suck in shallow water

What exact model helix? The newer Mega's, and G2 Chirp models are better than the early models

Humminbird leaves a lot to be desired when it comes to 2d. Very finicky. Can’t understand why they can’t figure it out. 200 setting is all I can get to work reliably.

Old Humminbirds were good. New ones are trash. I know because I run them. 360 imaging is worth the struggle for me and so are the superb mapping chips they have for my area.

I have an HB 1198 and 1199, both have great 2D sonar and Side Imaging. I have not felt the need to upgrade.

Had Lowrance and Humminbird, now with Garmin. Garmin wins.

Raymarine is also very good. But their side/down is atrocious.

IMO, best 2D would be something like a Carbon configured with a TM185 or TM275 transducer.

Garmin keeps coming up more and more, I think it is about time for me to start looking at them.

I’m not sure what’s going on but my Solix’s are working fantastic, I’m very pleased with them. The DI / SI is absolutely perfect and my 2D is very very good as well. I’m able to get readings in 1.5’ FOW.
I haven’t seen the false bottoms in 2d and get readings at speeds over 70 mph.
i was a long time Lowrance user and nothing but happy with the switch..
Its seems I’m always having to tweak a little here and there but don’t mind. Image quality on DI and SI is far above anything else on the market.

Yep bird si and di is awesome plus I love 360. But two separate helix units on 2 different boats and 3 separate transducers I just can’t keep the 2d under control unless I’m deeper than 10’

I hate to have issues like your having, aggrevating as can be while trying to enjoy..
    Good luck getting it resolved.
I was very reluctant going in with the HB’s, letting go of my Lowrance brand was hard. Glad I did and very pleased I’m not having issues like others..
