Took the day off work and went over to Maxi. Had a 6 hour topwater bite, couple white bass, 1 largemouth, and about 20 smallmouth. Think I could've caught more, but got bored and started experimenting. Damn things wouldn't hit anything but a zara puppy. Did get one on a tube, but couldn't get them to eat a popper, sammy, big gunfish, spinnerbait, jerkbait, wacky worm, or a drop shot.
Vast majority over 20-40 ft of water, just out busting baitfish for hours.

It was. Had a toad swipe at the bait at the boat, wish I'd of hooked it. Lost another over 3, that I swear jumped 8' in the air. I love when you find smallie's busting bait and hitting topwater, don't even really care if they hook up. Just like to watch them try and get a bait over and over. Not to mention seeing 2lb fish clear water 50 yards away chasing bait, and knowing if you can land one in the middle of the commotion you'll get hooked up.Originally Posted by crawdadking
