If they're fruit flies, put any vegetables in the fridge. It takes 2-3 days but without stuff to get into they die off quickly. I had a few show up last week and they're gone now. Apple cider vinegar attracts them. I've put a small amount in plastic container in the sink. When they all congregate, I get them with a small shot of bug spray. They also flock to beer/soda cans with a small amount of liquid in them.

We had fruit flies in the break room at work and that was the prescribed solution.

This works. I put some in a plastic container with a lid. Poke small holes in the lid and they go in but don't come out. I read this somewhere and just left it on the counter. Problem solved.

Check your house plants soil late in the day. Probably living in it, as they like moist dirt. Little ortho works.

Cut the bottom of water or soda bottles, fill them half full if apple cider vinegar, cover with saran wrap tightly. Poke numerous holes into the saran wrap lid with a toothpick. Set these around sinks, garbage can areas, and bathrooms. A couple of days after setting these out you'll be amazed to see how many gnats, fruit flies were in your house.

Yup vinegar works great! Just put some in a bowl and you will be shocked. Houseplants are key to look at, I won't buy plants from Ikea anymore every one of them had knats, it is a real pain in the butt.

Theory is, they go for the vinegar and can't get away from the soap. Theory seems to be sound though. You should find a bunch of fruit flies floating in it dead.
If you think you have a flea problem, you can do the same with a white plate, water, drop of soap. Just place it on the floor in the corner of a room and check it the next morning. Move it to a different corner the next night. If you have a problem, you'll find the area.

do this but cover it with plastic wrap. Punch a pencil size hole right in the middle. Catch a ton. they get in but then circle the outside until they fall in.
