    compressor screen clogging

Is it just me, or does that compressor screen need continuous cleaning? It seems like just a few days on a grass lake will start to clog my compressor screen and drop my water pressure. I do clean it out but sometimes things get through to the thermostats which I also have to clean. It's a real PITA for a guy that loves shallow grass fishing like myself.

anyone have a better solution or way to prevent so much debris from getting in?

Don't fish in the grass is the only option I see. Coming from the Potomac, that's not really an option. I clean mine out twice a year.

I wish I only had to do it twice a year haha. This is the one thing that makes me miss the Yamaha and I'm more conscious withe Mercury and don't idle through the grass like I used to with the Yammie. Can't believe Merc doesn't fix this design.

Just as a matter of note- the compressor strainer protects the COMPRESSOR cooling circuit, not the thermostats.

What type of media are you finding in your strainer (primarily)?

    sorry, it's a 2014 225hp PRO XS.

I'm mainly finding various types of vegetation and at times pieces of shells. Normally my water pressures is around 2PSI at idle and 18-22 at WOT. When that screen starts to clog, it will be .5-0PSI at idle and 10-12 WOT.

Unfortunately, just a day or two fishing a lake with grass it will start to clog. And I'm not running through the grass beds, but there is plenty of floating grass in the lake that I try my best to avoid running through.

Grass will do that- and if you're going to run in grass-laden water, it's simply going to happen.

Be sure to provide your serial number with posts. Thanks!
