    gt150 wiring

I have a 1989 Johnson gt150 j150stlcem that I rebuilt, but lost the pictures I took, and not sure where some of the wires connect to. The ones in question are number 18 on the wiring harness in the attached picture. Greatly appreciated if you can help.

I would say they are tan. Looks like the color has faded due to the age of them.

Should be what we are asking...If the wires are faded, peel the wrapping on the bundle back just a hair to see the colors. With the colors we can help without guessing. With the known colors and your OMC repair manual, it will be a cinch.

May be hookup to port side temp sensor in head...starboard temp sensor will be tan wire and black and wire wire.(starboard has 2 wires for quickstart feature/port has 1/tan.) Could be vacuum switch on port side as well. What kind of connector is on it?

No Quick start on a GT

And vacuum switch wire is a single long wire and has a ring terminal

You sure about that??? When OMC came out with the single T power pack in 1989 it was the first year for Quick Start, The T power pack was used on the GT/XP's from 1989-1991 when the GT/XP went out of production.

1989 did have quick start and even though you say vacuum has ring connector,,,if you trace wiring,,all 3 tan wires are joined together since they all use switches that ground and cause alarms,,,,overheat/vacuum,thats why I asked what kind of connector was on it..,,,learn your motors SMR,,,,

it has a round spade connector as if it is to be connected to the terminal block, that has the yellow, yellow/grey,grey,red, and purple.I believe it is for the sensors, but not sure they are powered from the red lead or the grey. All the diagrams I see indicate they go to the powerpack, but not on this motor. The other thing is the vro pump has 4 wires coming off of it, not three like I see in the diagrams.

There is a cover plate for the terminal strip that has the wiring colors on it. Your shop manual has the wiring diagram in the back of it.
