Slung prop blade, Couple questions regarding lower unit??

    Ser# 2B229900 2016 Mercury 250 ProXS,torque master lower unit.
Had about 2-3" section of the blade sling off today. Shut it down, checked everything, guessing shot straight down,no marks on lower unit.
Was 3-4 miles from launch, had a vibration wasn`t awful but definately vibrating. Ran 3500 rpms back to launch. Would this cause any damage to lower unit???

Please take a moment to review the Forum Announcements, and be sure to provide the Requried Info when posting. Thanks!

Depending on whether or not it was a Mercury Propeller, and what the Warranty Status of your engine is, the prop may possibly be covered against defects as well.

A quick check of Propshaft Runout (and sampling of the lube) would be the best "proactive" steps to take, but it is unlikely (based SOLELY on your description) that there is gearcase damage.

Updated serial number,Sorry Don,forgot it.Running Fury 4 at about 5600rpms at the time. Prop was 3 weeks out of warranty. Engine has Platinum til 2023,but can`t imagine that is covered under that.
Drained lower unit,no water or chunks. wish the plug was magnetic to see if excess, oil looked good.

The rear drain/fill plug tip is magnetic. Any fine filings should be captured here.

    Not necessarily...

Mike- get with your dealer. Genuine rigging components/accessories are often covered under the engine Factory Warranty against defects.

Keep in mind- the prop blade would have to have failed due to a defect (ie: There were no signs of previous damage to the blades).
