    Prop help

    I have a 2018 Triton19trx with a Mercury 225hp Optimax.
I am using a Fury 3 blade 24p with two power pole blades and 4 batteries.
Hole shot is good, but I am getting only 60mph and my analog rpms r over 6000!
I am thinking I need a 25p Fury or higher. Any suggestions?

Either your prop is damaged or your tach is wrong. If you have a standard optimax your tach is most certainly wrong.

I do have a standard tach. I plan on buying a smartcraft gauge.
The prop is new so I am thinking that my tach is way off.

Sounds like you need a higher pitch prop.

I agree with a higher pitch. What speed r u getting with that tempest+?
It sounds like Triton’s run better with tempest + props.

    1) if you have a standard non-pro xs optimax your rev limit is far less than 6000 and your tach is wrong 2) Regardless if your motor is a pro xs or not whether it has 1.87 gears or 1.75 gears your apparent prop slip is so high either that prop is in terrible shape, you are trying to run it waaaay too high, or your tach is still wrong

It is a pro xs. The prop is in great shape, so I am going to try a higher pitch prop and install a smartcraft gauge. I will report back with the results, From reading the speed section for Triton’s, it sounds like most guys r running 25-27pitch props.

Install the Smartcraft gauge FIRST...... BEFORE changing pitch.

Try dropping the motor a 1/2 inch first, you have 25% prop slip, should be less than 12% set up right, if improved keep adjusting until yo reach the highest speed at the lowest rpm

Do u actually mean taking it to my dealer and having them unbolt the motor and lowering it to the next set of holes?

Lower the jackplate 1/2” is what was suggested. Before doing that I would get a prop to pad measurement to see where it is now.

I posted this in your prop thread:

Im running a 19xs which I believe is the same hull. If you can try a Tempest + that would be good. Im currently running a 25 Furry and im getting 5740 RPM at 65 mph in this summer heat. With a 25 Tempest + im at 55 to 56 and some change at 70 to 71mph. I will admit id like to see a little more RPMs out of my 25 temp + but id have to send it to mark for that. I really think Your tach is off. Like savage said get a merc monitor. How ever you could be spinning that 24 furry at that Speed because i spun my 25 furry at 5740.... so I guess it could be possible....

I did purchase a 24 tempest + to help rpm in this south Texas heat that I have not ran yet.

I have 2 ten foot poles, 4 batteries, an ultrex 112 and I carry a heavy load.

It seems these boats like to run high. I have a 10" z lock jack plate that's raised up high but my H20 pressure is still at 25 psi at wot

Am I correct in saying 3.5” for ptp? Also, tempest plus props are better on Triton’s?

If you’ve got a hydraulic plate as you say 5” is fine for when it’s all the way down. You get in rough water you may want it that deep but hopefully you aren’t keeping it all the way down on a speed run.

I’ve always had a manual jackplate. I have only been raising my trim, and leaving my jackplate down.

I was going off this comment where you claimed to have a hydraulic not a manual plate
