    Chip repair before keel guard?

I have a few chips from the previous owner. I plan on installing a keel guard. Can I install the keel guard over the chip or do in need to repair first? The large one is about an inch long.

Also, since this will not be seen and will be covered by a keel guard, can I use marinetex?

I would defiantly repair before the keel guard. I always opt for gel for a repair instead of marine tex.

Repair, Even though the Keel guard will cover it the depression/indentation in the hull will prevent the keel guard from adhering to that spot since it is not level. You hull is weaker on that spot and if you have an impact on this spot your keelguard may stretch or tear causing issues. Coming from someone who has removed a keel guard I would advise to repair this spot as level as possible before installing a keel protector. I have had good results with Evercoat gel coat repair products.
