The front decks on newer boats are designed with the trolling motor tray in mind. Older boats were not. I installed one on my 04 zx250 and had to cut through one of the deck support going from side to side. I noticed the deck had a bit of sag after cutting it out. Install a brace of some sort to help firm up the deck.

unless your friend is the original owner he has no hull warranty.

But yes, he will need to brace as the post above mentions.

They told him no because that brace he would have to cut keeps the front of the boat from flexing and bending in towards each other but he said he saw a few with that mod done ?

Put one in my 05 ZX 225 when I had it and it was the best thing I ever did! Never noticed any issues with sagging, flexing. The hardest part was measuring 10 times then cutting once. Life is too short to balance on one leg I'd do it!!

I'll add.... I've heard of others putting them in 19ft skeeter's. Pop the front cover and see what you're actually going to need to cut and make the call.

I installed one on my ZX202C while replacing carpet and installing pad. Have not had any sagging issues. It it so much better after a full day fishing. Especially on a windy day.

I have an 02 ZX250 and called Skeeter twice and was told I could. Now I just have to get around to doing it.

Tell him to take the front panel off and take his cell phone and get some pics on what's underneath. That will give a good look at what he be cutting a hole into. I did this on a 05 ZX 225 back in the day and it had to be mounted pretty close to the carpet edge. I Would think an 01 would be similar deck.

Different trays have dif sizes. I installed the Comforttroll one.

I put one in my 99 ZX 185 and in my buddy's 05 ZX 225 and neither time did I have to cut any part of a brace and the decks on both boats did not flex at all. I did pull the front storage box out of mine and looked at everything under deck before I did it. Never had a problem at all. Had the 185 for 19 years and the install was still good when I traded for my new ZX 250 in march. Measure twice get your template taped in the right spot pull out the sawzall and just do it, you won't regret it.

I’m sure is boat is close to my 03 sx200, didn’t have a brace to cut through, I’m 185, my buddy is 230, we both stood on it and didn’t see added flex. I made the pan myself. I don’t remember the spacing but used like 12 2 1/2 inch long screws. Only thing tractor supply had in stainless. The amount of screws prolly helps tie the flor to the pan taking out the flex as long as my welds don’t break
