Looks like a good deal because of the PID controller. I have a Pitt Boss 820. Father's Day 399 at lowes. I bought a savannah stoker PID controller for 200 and it works great. Been smoking most my life and wanted a pellet cooker. My next one will be a rectec. Good luck. JD

My local Home Depots do not carry the Lonestar units so I have not been able to see it. However, in reading the description and specs, I did notice that the pid controller has only 5 temperature settings available. I do not know if this makes much difference in practical use of the unit but I do know that I like to fiddle with the dial and fine adjust my temperature settings based upon my whim.
