I asked Pat about that once as I have the same boat. He told me to stick with the 8". 10" would be too much setback.

I swear my buddies is a 10”. I’ll text him and ask, but it might be late tonight before he responds.

Not really into going all out. Mostly fish club stuff. Stay around 50-55 with a 200 Optimax, 25 tempest plus. Been told 65-70 is reachable with the right prop set-up.

I had a 196 that had a 10" plate on it when I bought it. I was also in the process of selling my 193 at the time which had a 8" plate. I had read that Pat said the 196 liked the 8" better so I swapped the two and put the 8" on my 196. I didn't notice any difference to be honest. My numbers all stayed the same so i left the 8" on it and sold the 193 with the 10" on it.

Why is the 8" preferred? Does it perform better all around? Better top end or low end holeshot?
