    Lake recommendation

Mom and dad turn 70 next year and the family would like to rent a house big enough to sleep 12. We plan on coming up next July probably the week of the 20th. Kids love to swim and tube, dads love to fish for largemouth, smallies and northern pike. Panfishing is an added bonus for the little kiddos. Looking for a recommendation on what lake offers these options.
    thank you!

Hamlin is an awesome destination, great water, right on the dunes so you can go hang out on the beaches of Lake Michigan. Awesome views and Luddington is just big enough to be very convenient yet not too big to be annoying. We stayed 5 days up there last year with our club, that lake was so much fun to fish and explore, so many species to chase.

they have absolutely destroyed cadillac and mitchel with weed spraying this summer unfortunately. hamlin is a great spot. haven't been there in a number of years, but grew up spending a few weeks each summer there. Houghton lake would be good also. Long Lake by traverse has a good mix of fish also, also intermediate lake east of torch.

I haven't been out this year....That sucks....I was in Cadillac last week and did notice a low number of fisherman out there...

we were up about a month ago and fishing was ok, but mitchel was tougher than normal (under good conditions). The weights in the tournament were representative of that. I know a few others that have been there recently and said its gotten worse and more spraying. The weed treatments on most of our lakes on the west side have been out of hand for a number of years and its only getting worse and more frequent. Its a huge issue with the EPA and the dnr can't do anything about it. I am told they have used stocking as a bargaining chip at least - saying they won't let you stock walleye (only thing a lake assoc. can stock now) if you do business with the main spraying companies. Most people who want to live on swimming pools don't care about walleye though.
