Only Getting 60 mph Top Speed Out of 225 Opti

I have an 05 TR-21x with an Opti 225 and are only seeing 59-60 mph this year. Filters, plugs, fuel line, primer ball are all new. It's currently at a Mercury dealer and they are saying they don't see anything wrong with it! This boat should be doing 70+ mph. Prop is a Tempest+ 25p. Any ideas?

First , has it ever run faster?
Next, if it is a standard opti 225 and not a Pro XS 225, you have around 30 less HP and several MPH slower. A standard opti 225 may not push that boat in the 70's.
Also, list your complete setup, including setback, propshaft height, and RPM's.

I would have to take measurements...I am turning about 5450-5500 rpms at WOT

Forgot to mention...it has gone faster in the past, closer to 70. It isn't the Pro XS...it's the standard Optimax

My '04 with standard Opti would easily hit 65. I think I topped out at just over 70 one time. You're RPMs seem low to me. I was getting higher than that with a 26 Tempest.

Have you changed anything? Check compression. Possibly a bad coil? Has the holeshot suffered? The motor looks like it's as high as it can be mounted and the jackplate is as high as it can go....Hows your water pressure?

I would confirm correct compression, ignition, and fuel pressure. That should narrow the field some.

When was the last time you had your injectors cleaned and flowed?

holeshot is good...compression, fuel and ignition all checked out. Injectors have not been clean or flow tested.

Looks Like Center of prop shaft was only about 1/2 to 3/4 below pad

I just bought the boat this year but bought it from a close buddy’s friend. Going by the original marks on the jack plate and motor, the jack plate was moved 1 1/4” up and the motor was also raised to highest bolt hole. Supposedly this was done for best speed? It doesn’t seem to me that anyone else is adjusted even close to this way. I dropped the jack plate back down last night to the original mark it was at from the factory however I don’t have the ability to lower the motor itself back. Gonna try to take it out for a run today
