Started my military (USAF) experience (1965) after basic as a PJ trainee. My brother-in-law was a Navy Medic who was trained as a Combat Medic to serve in Vietnam with the Marines. I had just returned in 1967 when he got his orders to report to Vietnam.
Oh that sweet sweet smell of the cattle truck on the first day of basic at Fort Leonard Wood!
Congrats to him on his decision, and kudos to y’all for supporting that decision. The army can provide a life that he wants it too.
Yep ,Never forget the day Nov 7 1959 Lackland AFB Texas where My New MoM met the Buss My Life changed forever LOL
Congrats on him making the decision to serve our great country. Great career choice too.
Best of luck to the new troop. I can still recall arriving at Fort Campbell and the hustle off the buss . Thanks to Fort Polk.
No matter what branch of service we all served in, we will never forget the following...
1. Your arrival to boot camp or basic training. Get on yellow foot prints for you Marines.
2. The first time you met your DI's, DS's, TI's or whatever you had. Very nice and friendly guys.
3. The initial haircut....
4. Rifle qual for those that had to.
5. The "GAS" chamber.
6. Graduation
7. The names of your DI's, DS's, TI's or whatever you had.
