4 stroke is too heavy for a go fast boat. Ok for a fishing boat.

Incorrect. The new v8 four stroke weighs as much as my 300x. Just a hair more than 500 pounds and since Merc ain’t making a 2 stroke your alternatives are the v8 xs or SHO. The Verado 4 stroke is the heavier motor

Don't have much info on it as of yet, the boat is at Waters Edge Marine in Iowa, I believe it is the owners boat. They are pretty busy selling/rigging boats so I think it has taken the back burner for a bit. It was susposed to have a 250 xs on it but they postponed the order to get a 250R on it. The boat is a 2018. Sorry to get everyones hopes up too much, the picture was enough to hold me over for at least a little bit!

A guy named Woody on Allison board ran 90 mph with a 250R on a 21xb xst. From what I’ve read the xb21 and SST run similar numbers. Maybe the SST is 2 mph faster, the SS being a little faster than SST

so I bet the SST 250r runs 90 92 *with a standard store bought prop*

on the SS I bet the 250r runs 93 94 * with a standard store bought prop*

real world numbers probably 85 84 loaded SST, SS 85 87 * one person cool temps

2 people summertime SST 82 83, SS 83 84, Real world average driver numbers

Gotcha...I thought the 300x weighed 505. Is that the 300xs? I read the 300r weighed 512 pounds according to the Merc website. Does the 300xs 4 stroke weigh more than the 300r? I’ve been wrong a lot lately.

All things considered weight of the 300xs 300r are the same. Delete oil tank for 300r makes up difference, its that close

I've been searching and there isn't a lot of info yet... I was going to get a 300xs but decided to wait for the new V8. Problem is, they don't offer a 1.62 sporty yet. I know there is quite a few configurations of this motor. That's why you hear such a variance in weight. They have a 300 pro xs (torque master only) at 505... The 300R (available with sporty) at 512... The weights go up depending on which midsection and lower unit you get... I'm also looking at switching to DTS but it's hard to find prices and info on what I need.

I wouldn't think the sporty would be a good lower for the XRS.

Local Friend just installed a new 300R on his XRS. Still in break in but numbers so far are 90 mph GPS. Said there is still another 1-2 mph to gain.

I just happen to have a 300x and a 300xs in the shop. Tag on the 300x says 504lb and the 300xs says 505lb.
