    Lok-R-Bar

Want to put a Lok-R-Bar on a Z-19, has anyone done it?

Yep. I installed mine about a month ago on a 2018. Works great. You have to cut the rubber strip along the carpet because the gunnel is so low, but it looks great. Really easy to install. I followed the instructions in this video.

Why does one need a lok r bar if your latches have locks?

Latches aren’t very secure. The lock on the lock-r-bar has a built in alarm as well. Just makes it more difficult for thieves.

The thieves will bypass the boat with a Lok-R-Bar and hit the easy ones.

Because they're not really locks. Anything can open them, even a thumb screwdriver.

Even with the bar its not safe. There for a while the thieves were taking the front winch strap and pulling the bar out with that.

Myth. Not to mention - you know how loud that would be to even attempt that feat?

You can believe whatever you heard. I've put them on 3 different boats and have no qualms leaving my gear overnight when on the road. Sure thieves can get in, but it won't be by conventional means. They will need a hell of a lot of tools and an ass load of time. Of course, they could always bring a a back hoe. I'm not saying the bar cannot be bypassed, but it won't be in your driveway or at a motel parking lot. It will be when the boat is stolen and in the confines of the thief's shop. The bar is relatively cheap insurance and with that loud-ass alarm on it, there is no way anyone is sticking around trying to get by it.

I saw a post somewhere showing a nitro with the bar. There was one v cut in it by a cordless sawzall, the bar was removed, and all the rods and tackle had been stolen. I was thinking about putting one on mine for my trip to Lake Erie since I was going to break the drive in half and stay in a hotel. I opted for the TH Marine boat alarm. It works pretty well. Scared my brother when he tried to climb onto the boat to get something.
