Even with the bar its not safe. There for a while the thieves were taking the front winch strap and pulling the bar out with that.

I saw a post somewhere showing a nitro with the bar. There was one v cut in it by a cordless sawzall, the bar was removed, and all the rods and tackle had been stolen. I was thinking about putting one on mine for my trip to Lake Erie since I was going to break the drive in half and stay in a hotel. I opted for the TH Marine boat alarm. It works pretty well. Scared my brother when he tried to climb onto the boat to get something.

If they want in, they will get in.......you could have fort knox on the deck, and they will just cut thru the hull.

Just think how much easier it would have been to just break the latches someone else asked about.

It’s going to be hard to reason with someone who is a self proclaimed expert. On top of that, someone who has been notified of that every single claim and incident involving a Lok-R-Bar. How could you or anyone else know anything different?

Well, I know what I have seen, and the company that makes the loc-r-bar had a video out showing how it is not possible, and a standing healthy cash offer for any proof of when it has happened.


Since you know so much from what you heard, provide them your evidence and collect your money.

Good one.....only stating what I know from personal experience and what I have actually seen with my own 2 eyes....not what I heard.

I know what research I did before I got one, and I know what others have said and done on here, I have seen the video, and I have yet to see or hear of verified proof that anyone has successfully used a winch to remove one.

I can tell ya on my rig, simple physics prevents it from happening, not to mention having enough leverage to actually turn the crank handle with all the friction that is involved means you could beat the world champion arm wrestler.

As I said before, you can get into anything, if you want to and have time...............just like if someone doesn't agree with you, you can always call them names and try to insult them.

You can believe whatever you heard. I've put them on 3 different boats and have no qualms leaving my gear overnight when on the road. Sure thieves can get in, but it won't be by conventional means. They will need a hell of a lot of tools and an ass load of time. Of course, they could always bring a a back hoe. I'm not saying the bar cannot be bypassed, but it won't be in your driveway or at a motel parking lot. It will be when the boat is stolen and in the confines of the thief's shop. The bar is relatively cheap insurance and with that loud-ass alarm on it, there is no way anyone is sticking around trying to get by it.

That's exactly why I have one. It's a deterrent and a noisy one at that. Any security system can be bypassed, but I'd rather be the one with the bar parked next to the one without.
