Thanks for the link. It answers a lot of questions on the new 4 stroke Mercury engines.

The Z21 with the new 4-stroke runs the same as the 2 stroke. With the new power steering it makes handling a tad bitter and gas mileage goes up

77 mph on a Z20, with 3 MPG? Sounds great if those numbers are accurate. I will know for sure in the next 2 weeks. Boat is built and on its way to the dealership....

    Thanks!

I have heard the new 2019 Z20 is faster then previous models. So I am not doubting the 77, merc reports are usually pretty accurate.

Heck If I saw 74, 77 is not that big of a stretch.

If all goes well I'll give an update Sunday what a z 21 will run. Pick mine up Friday, and hopefully by Sunday I'll have enough hours to open it up

You know the break in period is odd to me, i figured 4 strokes we would avoid the 10 hour break in period. I have a feeling this will be dropped at some point, feel like mercury did not want to update the documentation, so we have the same break in as a 2 stroke.

However it's very similar how to break in a lower unit so maybe it isn't for the motor it's self

I heard the same story only it was on a Bass Cat. That is who they worked with the whole time they were developing the V8. There are some Z20 owners with new motors on Facebook and all is quiet for some reason. Why you think that is?

According to BCB, Mercury worked with a lot of boat manufacturers in testing the V8. Bass Cat was just one of them.

Not broke in yet still babying a bit, but on my z21 I have seen 69.2 mph with all my gear 3/4 tank of fuel myself at 225lbs my dog that is right at 100lbs and livewell full. Felt like it still had more trim and top end just didn't want to push too hard not being fully broke in. Running a 23 fury and was turning about 5800 at that speed. I think it's gonna easily be a 73-75mph boat when fully broke in. Will update some more after more hours are logged.
