Just curious, were you having problems with your old motor? Once you get the new motor on, you'll have to drive a long way to find clean enough water to break it in. The way things are going around here, we might get some debris free water by duck season.

Kevin I opted to upgrade to the 4.6L early before the value of the 2 strokes dropped (which has happened the past month). If you were to order my engine now the delivery estimate is Feb. 2019.
The bass guys fish less than 10% of the navigable waters of the Potomac. That 10% is also the section of river that takes the brunt of suspended solids and debris coming from the north. The river settles out most of the solids and dispurses the debris just past the 301 bridge. I have plenty of clean water south to conduct break in and fish in between runs. And that's where I fish most of the year.

Did you fill and gel coat the hole yourself? Awesome job!

Jacos has them in stock if someone is looking for one.

I ordered mine thru Jaco's but don't believe they have any 250 4.6L 20" in stock. The few they did receive were for paid in full orders. I waited for over 2 months for mine and it was placed with Mercury on the 1st open order day in May.

So Mike, are you going to make the exchange yourself, but then why not, there doesn't seem to be anything else on the boat and trailer you have not been able to do yourself?

I would but Mercury warranty says rigged by an authorized dealer. Because of the DTS system, the tech has to set everything via the computer. Hot foot throttle, shift, etc...
The Opti was the last high dollar piece of gear/engine I could work on with no fear. This 4 stroke is now in the same category as my EcoBoost. Can't do much to it.
Change the oil/filters/plugs/alternator belt and clean the cooling system strainer. To the shop for most anything else. Big + is no more
    compressor/injectors/2 stroke oil pump-tank-lines.

For those with interest in this new V8 I have a repower thread with details on the upgrade and will be adding direct performance comparisons to the previous 2 stroke via Smartcraft level 1 Merc monitor recorded readings.

If you see a white Ranger barge moving down the river and it sounds like pots & pans banging together that will be me doing break in.

    I'll get some pictures up.

And I thought the 4-strokes were supposed to be quiet.

Darn that is a sharp looking set-up. Also, that boat has to be the cleanest and neatest boat NOT sitting in a showroom.
