Prop question u

I have a 20’ swift bass boat I redid over the winter,I put a 1990 GT200 on it been having trouble getting it to plane,I have a 25 renegade prop and the only way it will plane is without the weed ring,I’ve been told that the weed ring would not cause it to not plane,anybody else ever have this ? Any comments would be appreciated.

The weed ring helps control venting. This does effect holeshot as well as diameter and pitch. I'm not a fan of the renegade on motors over 150 hp

Mark thank you for answering my post, my boat is a Swift 20.5 it’s actually an 18ft. Boat that’s 8ft wide it has a1990 GT200 on it,it doesn’t come out as well as I would like it to,the propshaft is 2.5” above the pad.it has a 25 renegade on it now,I’ve only run it with myself in it with 10g of gas .the hull weight is 1500 lbs.would you give me your opinion on what prop would be the best for this set up? Thank you.-

Depends what you are looking for. Speed would go to a 3 blade like a Tempest Plus or Marks Razor3. Holeshot, acceleration, handling, load carrying, etc goes to a large diameter 4 blade Like a Bravo1, Marks Razor4 XL and maybe even a Fury 4. Try and test one of these before you buy because I don't know much about your boat.

When going from a 3blade tempest 23pitch what pitch 4blade in Marks razor,bravo1 or fury would l want to get?
