    176/186 Owners

Do you find that you miss the rear storage? Seems like I have most of my tackle there. I think it would be a big change to not have those two rear compartments?

I had a 186 for 17 years. If I was absolutely desperate for storage, I would plug one of the livewells and use it. I also had a good sized rubber-maid container in the back that carried item used less often. The 186 has a bunch of storage up front!

Nope not at all sounds like you need to put your boat on a diet.

I don’t own a Charger but my Sabre has what appears to be the same storage layout of the 186 and have no problem. I usually carry 15-20 rods, 8-1 gallon ziplocks of plastics, 8- Plano 3700s, 16-3600s, tools, grease gun, boat bumpers, ropes, life jackets, 2 tackle bags, 2 sets of rain gear, and other miscellaneous stuff with some room to spare. My Sabre is a 2002 so I don’t have rear storage either but have storage under the driver and passenger seats. If I pack smart I can even keep one of the middle front deck compartments open for a coangler.

The new 186 has lots of storage up front and if optioned you can get a front livewell .

I have a 1989 180vf and I do miss the rear storage but it keeps me from carrying everything except the kitchen sink.

Thanks for the info. The 186 will definitely be on my list in a year or two. I would like to see one in person but they seem somewhat rare here in East TN.

A 186 w/175 is probably one of the best all around boats on the market. Will run mid-upper 60's light and mid 60's loaded down. It feels and fishes like it is bigger then it is.

The Charger website has a dealer locator on it to help you find the closest one to you

Just remember the 2006 later 186 is a very wide boat with tons of storage up front ,it’s actually as wide as a 296 and a more squared
    rear.

If you want a boat in the 18 and a half foot range with rear storage the Nitro Z18, Phoenix 618 and Ranger Z185 are among some that do have rear storage. All are wide, probably the Nitro being the widest.
