    Jack plate height

Hey guys I have a 1991 190sc champion. Currently my pad to prop is 5-3/4”. It has a lot of chine on top end trimmed up. I’ve read that 2-1/2” is optimal. Does anyone have experience with this set up? Has a 200 mercury

Everyone will tell you to start at 3-1/2" and go from there and will also need to know what prop you're running as well as what RPMs and speed you're getting now. I have a '93 190 DC and started at 3-1/2" but it ended up going up slightly in the end, running a 25 Tempest.

I hope you have a water pressure gauge. The chine lessens as you go up, so watch the pressure. As said, the best starting point is 3.5" (NOT the 2.5 you mention).
