I assume I’m not using a VPN since I have no idea what it is. Lol

I see a lot have them for work. Are you using them at home, too? Maybe one of the IT guys will chime but does the average consumer really need to be using a VPN? Sorry if it hijacks the thread; not sorry.

Looking for home use but I'm not really sure what to look for. Im not sure if its necessary either, but I guess it could never hurt to have one.

I use one at work and home. Have one on my phone as well, I don't like public WiFi security.

Ipvanish is good. I think I paid $9 for it a few months back. I just heard of another that is $4 per month. Can't recall the name right now but will let you know if I think of it.
VPN is smart if you are doing any funny business on the net. If you are not, it is a good supplement to anti virus and anti malware software as it makes it a little harder for net scanners to discover your device.

Think of it as a sorta way to send or receive data across a public network that others on the same network cannot see. Or at least understand.

I used one when I was in the middle east for 7 mos, they ban a lot of the web to include skype. The VPN Made their system think my computer was in SanFran. We also use one at work on our laptops when traveling to access company web.
