Need help entering waypoints, echomap plus 73cv

I'm trying to enter waypoints on my echomap plus. The longitude and latitude I'm given any of the maps that I look at comes out with degrees feet and inches. When I go to enter the coordinates into my unit I'm only given the option of degrees and feet. If I try to enter in the inches in as decimals the waypoints are way off on the unit. can some one help me understand either the conversion or is there a way I can alter the units on my echomap?

You are seeing degrees, minutes and seconds. Not feet and inches.

Coordinates are given either in either Degrees, Minutes and Seconds or Decimal Degrees.

You should be seeing something like this: 40° 26′ 46″ N 79° 58′ 56″ W for Deg/Min/Sec

or like this: 26.767′ N 79° 58.933′ W for Decimal Degrees.

There are free converter programs on the internet.
