All kinds of midsection and lower unit questions.

Pulled the lower unit off to replace the water pump and discovered it was melted. The inner lower exhaust housing is missing. When I look at the schematic I don’t think the part listed is going to work. It looks way to long. Surfaces are long a few inches apart and that piece looks several inches long.

Is the cavataion plate fixable or don’t take a chance of breaking it?

The diagram shows the 25/30 inch mid model. You have a 20 inch mid. You need #0320961 seal/#0320936 seal/#0327796 exhaust housing.

I would use a c- clamp and a block of oak and gradually start straightening, starting at the front of the bend and working it out. striking with a mallet is a huge gamble.

The reason your water pump housing is melted is due to the missing inner exhaust housing. You need to get the correct one back in. I have plenty of used ones if desired.

I ordered one from eBay. I wish I would have seen your offer before hand. You guys have been great, several of you have offered to help me out. Thank you again.

I tried the C-Clamp idea on the plate, but it just springs back when I release the clamp. Any other ideas or is it not worth messing with? Heat?

Get a sledge hammer and put the case on the edge of a strong wooden table or equivalent, start banging working from the center of the affected area and then work your way out. 1-2 minutes and you'll have it.

Or shim each end and put the clamp in the middle, pull it down straight at first and let it sit for 30 mins. then pull it down past level a little and let it sit....may take more than once....
