Solix waypoint defaults - only global?

I’d like to have different setting for my bow and console graphs. I want one icon for the console as usually I only mark structure waypoints there. I want a different icon for the bow graph as that is where I typically mark caught fish. Is this possible? I couldn’t find a “global on / off” for waypoint settings.

At the end of the day I want to be able to separate waypoints that were used to mark stuff to explore, versus those that are marking productive fishing spots - without having to take the time to edit on the water.

Any other suggestions to achieve this goal are welcome!

I’ve never seen a setting. I think you would have to disconnect the network between the 2 units to have 2 different default icons

If you just want a different Default Icon for each unit, you can do that. Just choose a different icon and a different color in the Nav Data menu of each unit.

Is there a list anywhere of which capabilities are global and which local. Or if it doesn’t have a global switch is it always global?

Just went out to the garage and tried this. Can’t do it. When you change the defaults on one unit, they change on the other. Is there a setting somewhere that would change this?

I do have the networks synced as I believe you need to do to share waypoints.

Guys you need to send this to HB. My installer spent an hour at a dealer show talking to one of the engineers about waypoint management on the Solix. The guy took a bunch of notes so maybe if they know it's important they will implement some of it.

I want to be able to delete waypoints by using a check box to choose multiples in the list, delete all of one icon, color or date.

So you have a different default on each unit? Or are you saying you have multiple icons and colors to choose from when you mark a WP? I don’t want to have to do anything put mark a point and have it be different on the bow unit then on the console unit. No icon selection or color selection each time I mark a WP

You could get sneaky and create 2 different groups. Turn on edit waypoint in defaults then select what group to put each waypoint in when you create it?

I thought that is what the globals are for but doesn't seem to work that way

I have to retract my statement and say I checked today and both units have the same default color now

Not sure when that happened I would assume it was when I synced them

Curious how they consider this "Sharing" information rather than "Dictating" information

They have done a great job on the sonar side but now they need to bring the nav side into the 21st century

Seems when you sync the units it’s as if the entire navigation system of both is locked as one system

There are several settings that when changed on one unit also changes on the network unit. Global has nothing to do with those. Heading source is also handled the same way.

To save me some trial and error time.... does anyone know if waypoints will share if the units are not synced?

I made a call and this is what I was told. I tested it on my units to verify.

Set each unit to use the "favorites" settings and you will be able to choose a color for the icon when you set a waypoint. They will show as a different color if you choose a different color for each unit. You will have to choose the color each time but with the waypoint settings on "favorites" it will pop up when you mark a waypoint.

I have verified this also works with three units and holds the color after a reboot.
