Minn Kota shaft 52” to 45”

Can I remove the bottom of the head of my troll motor and cut to desired length split the sides to remove unwanted pieces of shaft and bolt the head back on. I wanted a 52” shaft but now rather the way it worked with my 45” so instead of buying a new troll motor again I’ll try cutting the shaft if possible...

What Troll motor do you have. Hand or Foot? Hand is easy to cut. Just be careful of wires. Foot not so easy. It is better if you replace the shaft than trying to cut. The upper part of the shaft has a tapered hole so that the pinion gear will fit in the shaft. also has hole to screw the pinion onto the shaft. I can handle that for you.
