    Niagra Falls Recommendations

Thinking of taking a 2-3 day trip to Niagra Falls with the wife for our aniversary the first week of August. Does anyone have hotel recommendations. Would like a view of the falls if possible. Any places to stay away from. I'm willing to trust the bbc croud over website reviews. Thanks !!

I haven't been to Niagara for years but I can't say it'd be a place where I'd want to go for my anniversary. I was very surprised the last time I was there and definitely wasn't impressed.

If you're going make sure that you have passports to get back into the US.

This is what I was coming in to say. If you're planning to go and stay on the US side, go somewhere else.

On the Canadian side, the Marriott Falls View is a good spot for getting a nice room with a nice view at a decent price in my opinion.

The wife and I stayed at the Hilton and was great. Parking underneath and we ate at the restaurant on top with a perfect view of the falls. Easy to walk to the falls and other attractions as well.

Stayed last summer at Holiday Inn Express right next to the park. Can see falls from upper floors. 2 days/nights was plenty for us. Do the Maid of the Mist boat tour, it was neat! Casino's on Canadian side with a footbridge for access from American side. Make sure you have passport card. Enjoy!

Ya need to take the BARREL RIDE Al, located just above the falls on the American side. Canadians get a discount!

My wife and I stayed at the Marriott Falls View a few months ago and had a great room overlooking the falls. I also enjoyed a day trip to Niagara on the Lake. As others said, do not even think about staying on US side as there is no comparison. We flew into Buffalo and Ubered to the hotel as well as Niagara on the Lake, no need for a car.

IMO, you'd be better off with one of the luxury resorts in upstate New York.
As mentioned, Niagara isn't a terribly special place to visit overall.
Maybe a shopping trip into NYC, Broadway play, etc. Just my opinion here.

I third the Marriott Falls View, nice rooms and great views. Waking up to a sunrise over the falls was really nice. While I agree Niagara Falls can be kind of a tourist trap, its still a place everyone should visit once. Whenever we have colleagues from China or Europe (2.5 hour drive from work), they ALWAYS want to see the falls if they have never been. Lots to do and see on the Canadian side without falling into any the tourist trap stuff as well.

Like the others have said. Its just water and a tourist trap. You would have more fun in Nashville and stay at the hotel and a show, go downtown. or if both you golf go to Nc

We would love seeing Nashville, and we will someday. But we don't have the travel time right now. Niagra Falls is just a little more than 5 hour drive; Nashville is about 12 hours away.

As stated, you could go to any of the hotels in the Falls like Falls View Casino and surrounding area. I would highly recommend Niagara on the Lake, even if just for the afternoon. Its about 20 mins from the falls and very nice, especially for the anniversay -- the wife will like it. Two Sisters Vineyard has a fantastic restaurant, I would highly recommend it. You can do self guided wine tours that go at your own pace, or a guided but obviously cost $. I would suggest bringing your bike and cycling between vineyards, you can also rent them if you dont bring own. That is something that is very common and I actually did it last weekend. If you want to stay in Niagara on the Lake, AirbnB has a ton of reasonable bed and breakfasts.

Local guy...Marriott Fallsview is a great choice...close to casino, great view.

Jetboat attraction is a great way to get up and close to the water...
