Getting started on "updating" tips for a Helix 10 SI.............................

What do I need to buy to be able to up date both of my units. What does formatting mean? My puter tower has a card slot so I should be good there.

    Thanks,
    Bill

Max size is 32GB for the SD card. Most cards come preformatted but to be sure I always reformat them before using. It clears/erases everything and prepares the card to allow the computer to write files to it in a format acceptable for reading by the computer (similar operating system) or in this case the Fish finder. Be sure you use the FAT32 format option if you format it.

One of the IT wizards on here may be able to give a more detailed explanation....LOL

64 gig cards will work. you simply have to format them in FAT32. I haven't tested 128 cards

Most probably will Troy - a buddy of mine picked up a cheap 64G Sandisk and used the FAT32 Formatter you've used and it wouldn't work for him.

It's an older format developed back in the early days of IBM PCs and MS-DOS. The hard disk on my PC uses NTFS which is more oriented with Windows.

I used some of the first models of IBMs and thought they may have started before that. I sort of figured you might know that one...
