I just want to know how the cable guy got the pit bull off the child? What sort of magic or weapon did he use, and did the dog survive?

That says a lot. You’re fearful of what it can or could do.

I have met hundreds of dogs over the last 30 years of going to work in peoples homes. I’m a dog person myself. I can usually pick the ones to stay away from fairly quick. I know I’m going into their domain. Almost all of the ones I have met have been fantastic. Many times I even let them out in the yard for the owners when they’re not home. 2 days ago I went to house and immediately heard barking. I saw 2 pitts through the glass door so I asked the other guy that was with me who had been there before if they were ok he said he spent 2 days there and the dogs wouldn’t go past the plastic barrier (that had a big slit in it). As soon as I walked in the female came right through that hole in plastic. She came over wagging her butt asking for some petting. The male however stayed on the other side barking. Owner says he doesn’t like to cross thresholds. (Red flag for me lol) i asked the guy to introduce me to the male. He did and I petted him a little. He’s a stout dog. Both from same litter.

Fast forward to the next day. I ran out to get some material and when I came back guy was in the yard with both dogs. Male starts barking. I ignore him but keep my eye on him. Female came over for more petting then the male came over for some forced petting. After going back and forth to the truck a few times he barked at me every time and he seemed to shadow me. Next trip i put my framing hammer in my loop. I felt i needed to have something even though I am aware that if he grabs me i may lose a limb but also that friendly female could join in if something were to happen. It is the first time that I felt like i needed to be armed against a dog while at work. Seemed like the owner caught my vibe and put them away.

The owners are not trashy people. Fairly well off and they do have kids in the house but when i was 12 ( that was a long time ago so this is nothing new ) my good friend was mauled by a Pitt while on his paper route. It was one of his customers dogs. It went through a screen door and got him from behind. Someone saw the attack and started striking the dog with a spade shovel. That had zero effect even as the owner (she was bitten also) was trying to stop the dog. It ignored eveything around it except for the calf muscle that it was ripping off of my friends leg. My friend escaped with his life to require many surgeries. The dog did not. Owners all want to believe that they can control the dog. I say when the dog snaps he doesn’t give a rats ass about what his (master is telling him). I do not fear most dogs as most of them i can probably kill or injure with my bare hands but not a Pitt. They’re all good dogs until they’re not.
