Has anybody put 24oz in a 300 series boat?

I'm about to recarpet my 360v and was wondering if anyone has used 24oz ranger or basscat carpet in their 300 series boat? I called Ranger yesterday planning to order the 24 and just shave the lid edges, but the guy in parts said he's redone a lot of the 300 series boats and strongly recommended sticking with the original 16oz weight carpet....said putting 24 in those boats is more trouble than its worth. Thoughts?

i agree with him, the carpet will last years if taken care of,i would stick with what he said 16oz i am sure they have done a few,mine is 18 years old and still looks good

Not sure about 24oz but I put 20oz on my 374 and didn't trim anything and no problems opening any lids. I wouldn't go back to 16oz.

You probably would be sorry, Opening and closing lids would be tight and shaving the edges would be difficult. IMO. My lids are tight with the factory carpet, especially the Battery compartment

I bought my carpet earlier this year and got 20oz from Ranger it was a little tight on some of the lids but managed with it livewell were the worse so I cut the rug out from behind where the hinges attached and that took care of that problem...16oz is not as durable or nice looking when done and don't stand up as well either

I have a 13' z118 what oz carpet did factory install?

I agree with the 20oz. That's what I put in my 373 and I think the 24 would be allot of shaving.

I still have my 92 361V and re-carpeted the boat a couple years ago. I purchased 20oz carpet from Ranger. It's a little tight on the lids but overall not a problem. If you can, stay with 20oz.
