    Chatterbait question...

I’ve been making a few chatterbaits with the components from Barlow’s tackle and I was wondering if I bend the blade at the top will it make the bait less likely to rise faster ? The blade swings back and forth because of the open eye design and I wanted to know if that would affect it by bending the blade back or will it still track side to side but stay a little deeper .

    thanks in advance fellas!

It will to an extent. It also seems to speed up the thump such that it will thump faster but not quite as hard, so it's going to reduce that side-to-side motion a little. It'll also make it less prone to spin when reeling faster, at least that seems to be the case in my experience. Tinker with it and see what you end up with. The more I mess with them, the more I realize how drastically different the action can be from one to the next despite only small tweaks.
