    Ducer Mount Location

Alright all you champ guys. I’m updating the electronics on my 186 and am wondering where the best spot for the transom ducer is. The current one is located in the nook with my livewell drain and main drain hole to the far right. I feel like this may not be the best location but was wanting to get some opinions. Thanks

A lot depends on what unit you have, if it is side view or straight sonar or downview.

It will be side scan, down imaging, and traditional sonar

Your high speed down scan needs to be inside the hull.
That jack plate mount for the side scan is perfect.

You NEVER want to mount a transducer to the right (starboard) side of the pad that will disrupt water at high speed. That will not make your prop happy at all.

Ok, I’m thinking the current spot might be the only spot to mount one if I’m wanting to take advantage of all the different sonar views.
