    Fuel Enrichment Valve X 2

I've had the 1996 225 Vindicator running excellent.

Tonight, after being on the water and fishing an hour, I experienced another no-start situation.

Pulled the cowl and turned the fuel enrichment valve to 3 oclock. busted right off and turned it back to 6 oclock. Ran great.

Now, this only happens 5% of the time, but works every time.

In the shop or any time I check it, I can hear an audible click. Connection to the valve are solid.

Engine now runs perfect other wise.

    Thoughts??

No squeezing of the primer bulb when you turn the valve? Did you try pushing the key in instead of turning the valve?

Hi Fred. Yes, below is my start procedure.

    1. Unhook strap and transom saver.
    2. Lower engine and prime bulb until hard.
    3. Turn key to on and hold in key for 10 seconds.
    4. Re-prime the bulb.
    5. Back in and start.

    Boat starts fine.

The no start is random during the fishing trip. Maybe the first time I go to move, may be the 4th time I go to move.

When I get the no start, I try holding the key in again and still no start. The only way it will start is to remove the cowl and flip the switch to 3 oclock. As soon as it starts I move it back to 4 oclock.

The bulb is still hard when I have this issue so no I am not squeezing the primer when turning the valve. Turning the valve only.

Try this, with the fuel system primed leave the valve in the 6 o'clock position, remove the port side hose from the back of the intake and have an assistant engage the primer solenoid, no need for the motor to be running and see if fuel squirts out of the hose.
