Question Tin Boat Owners with Fulton F2 1600lb winch (size)

This is how much room I have with my current “normal” winch. I’d like to get the Fulton F2, 1600lb as it’s the smallest. My boat is a Triton SP-185 with a 90 Etec so it doesn’t weigh much, I’m sure the winch is enough but with no one near me with one in stock I have to ask the “Do you think it will fit” question?

    Opinions? Thank You, Chris.

The F2 1600lb winch is 9 inches long front to back and 8.5 inches high from the mounting platform.

I’m jealous! Looks very nice! My 1600lb will be here Friday and my new bow roller will be here soon so the front will be looking and functioning very well! The winch looks great!

Must be an optical illusion because of the angle I took the picture at. Boat is sitting perfectly straight on the roller.
you must be looking at the very tip of the bow platform. It looks to be way off. The roller hits about 6" down from it.
    Another picture:
my PK has a pretty good V in bow, so roller sits 6" below front edge of front bow deck.

When thinking about installing a new larger winch on your boat, look at the winch post from the side and look at the winch in proximity to the bow point of the boat. Now imagine what happens if you were to raise the stern of the boat off the trailer. The nose of the bow will dip down toward the winch. This is exactly what happens at the ramp if you have the trailer a little too deep, only it isn't the stern of the boat raising, it is the back of the trailer dropping. But it has the same effect of moving the nose of the bow closer to the top of the winch. Now many there is plenty of clearance and it isn't a problem. But some, the Ranger RT's for sure, do no have a lot of clearance. If you put too large a winch on it and have the trailer in too deep, you run the risk of driving the nose of the boat directly into the winch before the roller will catch and lift the bow. This could cause a lot of damage when power loading. So be very careful going to a taller winch on the RT's specifically, and anything else without a lot of clearance from bow tip to top of winch. Just because it clears sitting on the trailer, angles at the ramp can cause you a problem. I put a 1600 lb F2 on mine and that is as large as I am willing to risk.

That’s a great point Skeeterbait and something I am going to have to pay attention to, I do not have a lot of room to spare. And I ordered a Stoltz bow Roller as well from drew-teck. He answered so many questions and came up with the combo right for my boat. Can’t wait to get it and get this ugly hazard off the front of my trailer!

It appears to me you have room to spare between the winch and the bow. The Rangers though are very close.
