    Phoenix 618 Pro Prop Help

Hello guys! I have a Phoenix 618 Pro w/ Mercury 175 Pro XS. I just purchased a Tempest 24 pitch prop since my 3 blade Fury doesn't like full livewells. I purchased the small, medium, large vent plugs to help out on hole shot. Which vent plugs and how many should I use? My PTP is set at 3.5". Thanks!

I would start with the two medium ones. I am pretty sure that is what I settled on after testing different variations on the water one day.

I took the boat out for the first time with the Tempest 24P prop. I was running 63.5 GPS and 5600 to 5700 RPM's. It definitely wanted to chine walk and porpoise more with the Tempest than the Fury. Any suggestions? Raise motor?

Yea try it and see what happens. May have to move up to 3". You will probably still have some walk but that is corrected with seat time. Im sure its hot there so your numbers will get better when it cools off.

In TX, I'd go with a 23P Tempest Plus, 24P in cool weather. What size is your Fury? Balance and blueprint your new prop would help a lot.

Fury was a 24 pitch 3 blade but I sold it to make room for the Tempest. I fish mainly in the spring and fall so rpm's should go up once summer is over.

I have the same boat and motor as you and we probably fish some of the same water. I run a 24 Tempest with the medium plugs at 3.25" and it does great. Minimal chine walk, good lift and fast. 66 right now and 68-69 in cooler temps.

I have the same boat with the 24 tempest and it came with the large plugs. I’m at 3.25 and that seems to be the sweet spot.

I tried out the boat over the weekend with the motor set at 3.25. It ran perfect. Two big guys with lots of tackle and ran 65mph with 95 degrees temps. Chine walk was cut to a minimum. It just feels more stable and hooked up. It is a different boat all together going from 3.5” to 3.25”. Love the new Tempest Plus 24. Thanks again guys for all the help!
