AVX 1980 - Transducer Cable Routing

I have seen the 1980 before but I was at lothe local dealer today and spotted something I had not noticed earlier. They route the Speedo and transducer wire directly into the bilge via a through-Hull fitting. For those of us who have struggled to pull wires through wiring tubes, this is huge. It also goes a long way toward reducing noise on the transducer circuit by keeping it away from the engine charging circuit.
    Another good detail.

I wasn't aware anyone was using that type of speedometer pickup anymore.

I had the same thought. It occurred to me that Evinrudes may not have a Speedo pickup in the foot.

G1's do and have for years and if a G2 powered Vexus they come with GPS aerial for much more accurate speed than the old fashion pitot tube as in the picture. Not many engine over 75HP need such a devise nowdays because as mentioned all G1 from 75HP up have gearcase pick-ups and G2 have GPS.
